So, what have you got for me?

[Right to the point as she takes a place next to him, very pointedly still not really about speaking face-to-face. She trusts McCree to a point and is rather sure he wouldn't hurt her, but all the same, he's still a man that's larger than her, and for the sake of her own fears she's just not here to speak to any of those head-on. Side-by-side is fine.]

[ McCree goes ahead and brings up the video for her. He holds his bracer out at a comfortable viewing angle and lets it play through before explaining. ]

I was looking for something to stop things from getting into or minds and memories. Then I see Leon's left the key in the door to the restricted section, so of course I gotta take a peek. This 'Bulwark Shield' seems like it might do the trick, but I sure can't understand the formula or whatever it is. I went to ask Lucas about it and he said it's impossible to do.

[ He shakes his head. ]

I don't buy that. Why have an animated book that shows it if it can't be done?

[Mia watches the video as McCree explains- a bit impressed, too. Terribly nosey Investigative people are her own kind.]

This is... I don't know what it is, but if it's in the restricted section, it must be... powerful, at least.

[She frowns quite obviously, brows furrowed as she brings her hand to her mouth pensively.]

But a shield should be harmless to us. Why would magic like that be restricted?

[Mia adds to McCree's questions.]

You're right though... that's an awful lot of effort for something that a world full of fantasy can't actually produce.

I don't know. And I feel like I've hit a wall with Lucas. He won't be telling me anymore. So I wanted to get your take on it. See if you think there's anything else we can do with this info.

[Mia doesn't know enough about Lucas to judge, but it seems like a detail that ought to be remembered anyway.]

What about that hacker woman? Z....Zales?

If it's some kind of magical technology, she might know more about it.

[ McCree isn't sure about the sorts of things Zarves has knowledge on, but why not ask, right? ]

It's worth a shot. I've never talked to her before, though, so I don't know what she'd think of me asking out of the blue. Do you know her?

Maya has connections everywhere, and I'm pretty sure I can use that to my advantage.

[ Maya has that way about her. Hell, he sure didn't expect he'd be friends with a teenaged girl. ]

[ He rubs at his chin, wondering what this might do for them in future. ]

[ He nearly winces after saying it. Being in close proximity to Jack is rubbing off on him. ]

[She teases, and rolls her eyes.]

Not yet. But I'm gonna show Jack and see what he thinks. I'll probably keep it to just you two for now.

[There's a pause before Mia has to ask, of a person she recently did the test of initiation with: ]

...Which one is Jack?

[ He chuckles. ]

He's the grumpy old man with the scars across his face that tells people to call him Soldier: 76. You probably shouldn't tell people his real name's Jack or I'll wake up one morning with him staring at me from the corner, cracking his knuckles menacingly.

Oh is that his name. I was beginning to think I'd never know what to call him.

He's a bit uptight, isn't he?

[She grins.]

Yeeeeah. I guess he has his reasons.

[ But seeing how he's already told those reasons to Maya, he decides to keep his mouth shut this time. Can't go spilling all of another man's secrets, right? ]
